Riverstone - Riverstone Schools Earn Multiple Academic Accolades

August 24, 2015

Schools serving Riverstone continue to be some of the highest performing in the Fort Bend Independent School District, with several of the campuses earning numerous distinctions for excellence in the 2015 accountability ratings recently released by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

All of the Riverstone schools earned a rating of “Met Standard,” the highest awarded by the TEA.

Commonwealth Elementary students have earned distinctions in nearly every category — including Reading/English Language Arts, Math, Science, Student Progress, Closing Performance Gaps and Post Secondary Readiness.

Fort Settlement Middle School also received multiple distinctions, including Reading/English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Student Progress, Closing Performance Gaps and Post Secondary Readiness. Fort Settlement was one of only 153 high schools, middle schools and junior high schools in the state to earn a distinction in all categories.

Other Riverstone schools earning distinctions include Settlers Way Elementary, Reading/English Language Arts, and Elkins High School, Reading/English Language Arts and Math.

“Earning any type of distinction under the state accountability system is commendable and should be a source of pride in that community,” said Commissioner of Education Michael Williams in a press release.

The TEA rated more than 8,600 Texas campuses and more than 1,200 school districts and charters in the 2015 state accountability report.
