Charlotte's Take: Here's to a Spirited Halloween

Woodforest - Charlotte's Take: Here's to a Spirited Halloween

October 19, 2017

I love Halloween. Seriously. In fact, some of my WOFO pals say I go a little overboard. And living in Woodforest feeds my passion with not just one but TWO Halloween events — the annual Trail of Treats for our precious little ones and the Howl-O-Ween event (my fav!) for our four-legged loves.

Now my canine creature is incredibly patient, allowing me to dress him up in all sorts of devilish costumes. He’s been a bag of M&Ms, a “bark-tini” during a very unfortunate cone period and even the Chick-fil-A cow. This year, I’m thinking about either dressing him up as a “woof” spider or a plumber — butt crack and all.

We’re all going to gather at the Admiral Bark Park Oct. 27 to “ooh” and “ahh” over our cleverly finished Fidos, let them gobble up some well-deserved treats, parade them around and take lots and lots of photos. Fun fact: Did you know Admiral Bark Park is named after our first four-legged resident?

The next day, we all head to the Forest Island recreation center for more costume contests (the child kind), games, crafts, pumpkin decorating and — of course — candy. Thank heavens our tres smart lifestyle director knew to schedule this during the day so the kiddos can run off all that sugar before bedtime!

Wishing all of you a bewitching October!
