Johnson Development Dominates New Home Sales in Sugar Land

July 11, 2018

Johnson Development continues to be a leader in new home construction in the popular Sugar Land area, accounting for 93 percent of all new home starts during 2017, reports the Houston Business Journal in a recent article.

The majority of those new homes were started in Riverstone, which has been ranked among the nation’s top-selling master-planned communities for years.  Imperial — a community being redeveloped on the site of the historic Imperial Sugar Factory — accounted for 20 percent of all new home starts in Sugar Land last year.

Ranked the fifth most populous city in the greater Houston area last year, Sugar Land boasts a population of more than 88,000 and is still seeing a positive growth rate after substantial development during the past 20 years.

Johnson Development has long been a significant driver of population growth in Fort Bend County, with Riverstone and Imperial just two of the communities the firm is developing there. Others include Cross Creek Ranch, Harvest Green, Jordan Ranch, Veranda and Sienna Plantation, which introduced home sales in 1997.
