We’re Racing Toward Our First 5K

Harvest Green - We’re Racing Toward Our First 5K

September 21, 2018

With less than two weeks to go, we’re sprinting toward the finish line, putting the finishing touches on the OutRun Hunger 5k Family Walk/Run on Saturday, Sept. 29.

The race begins 8:30 a.m. with a Kids’ Run, followed by the 5K at 9 a.m. Live results will be posted on-site, and the race will be bibbed and timed. Free granola bars, fruit and other snacks will help runners go the distance.

A first aid tent will be provided by Carrus Care — although we are hoping no one will need it. Race photos will be taken by Kendall Cupak Photography.

The top three male and female finishers will receive awards. Kids will receive completion ribbons. Awards and ribbons are provided by one of our favorite builders, Newmark Homes.

At the finish line, we’ll have a DJ, Lopez Churros and ice cream. Renegade Kitchen and Catering will be on hand with food for purchase. Those that didn’t get enough exercise during the run can test out some trampolines with Springfree Trampolines or jump around in our bouncy house. Kids can try their hands at crafts courtesy of Harvest Green Montessori.

Vendors will be handing out samples and selling items such as jerky, fruit snacks, chocolate milk and more!

So, is your racing bag packed? You know, shoes, FitBit, athletic wear, sunglasses, canned goods… Huh?

The OutRun Hunger race benefits Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry, so we’re asking everyone who walks, runs or cheers tobring non-perishable food donations for their Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday baskets.

Among the items needed are:

  • Canned Soup
  • Pie Filling 20-21 oz
  • Chicken and/or Turkey Gravy
  • Canned Pumpkin 29 oz
  • Canned Yams – 29oz & 40oz
  • Cake Mix
  • Frosting
  • Boxed Pie Crust
  • Mashed Potatoes – 13.75oz-26.7oz
  • Cranberry Sauce
  • Canned Milk
  • Chicken Broth

Registration is ongoing. Pre-registration race fees are $25 for ages 13 and up, $15 for ages 12 and under. Children age 3 and under are free without a race t-shirt and $10 with one. Race shirts will be given on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
