We Take Education Seriously

Riverstone - We Take Education Seriously

May 29, 2019

A good education is the foundation for a successful life, so we support all of our schools to ensure that our young residents receive the best.

This year, Riverstone’s Your Community Foundation Committee donated $18,000 to the Fort Bend Education Foundation (FBEF), which raises funds to support innovative classroom instructional projects, new teachers and staff development opportunities.

The funds were used to support projects at Sullivan Elementary, Commonwealth Elementary, Austin Parkway Elementary, First Colony Middle School and Elkins High School.

Eight grants were funded for Sullivan Elementary, our on-site campus. Among the programs funded are those that support math, science and technological literacy as well as learning through play.

Austin Parkway received five grants, including a program that will teach problem-solving through fairy tales. Commonwealth Elementary students will be able to use hands-on STEM resources to enhance learning. A grant was made available to First Colony to update their sound system. An innovative literacy program will help Elkins students.

Each year, Fort Bend ISD educators are invited to apply for classroom grants. The projects are awarded through a blind application process. School administrators also may submit applications to apply for funding to establish learning projects that benefit students throughout a campus.

This year, FBEF awarded a total of $811,341 to schools including 344 grants for $555,661 to support the Grants to Teachers and Schools program; 166 New Teacher Gifts for $16,600; $43,500 in Professional Development Grants; and $97,718 in pass-thru grants. Since its inception, the Education Foundation has awarded nearly $36 million in grants to FBISD teachers and schools.

Thank you to the teachers and staff who devote their time, energy and creativity to help our children learn. We support you now and forever.
