Jubilee - Jubilee Awards 3 Waller ISD Teachers with $1,000 Each

June 02, 2025

As the school year wraps up, Jubilee has once again brought joy to Waller ISD classrooms through its Joyful Heart Award program. This spring, three exceptional educators have been awarded $1,000 each for their dedication, compassion, and commitment to student success.

Meet the Spring Semester Honorees

The Joyful Heart Award celebrates educators who go above and beyond to inspire and uplift their students. This semester’s winners were selected through heartfelt nominations and a community-wide vote, reflecting the strong bonds between teachers and the families they serve.

  • Rachel Walker, Fourth Grade Teacher at Roberts Road Elementary
Parent Erica Shott praised Walker’s ability to create an engaging and nurturing classroom. “Ms. Walker creates a warm, welcoming environment and inspires her students to grow with creative learning and thoughtful incentives,” said Shott.

  • Jessica Taxicharou, Science Teacher at Waller Junior High
Known for her dedication and heart-led approach, Taxicharou leaves a lasting impact. “Jessica leads with heart, determination and unwavering commitment, shaping lives far beyond the classroom,” wrote Kim Loner in her nomination.

  • Miguel Aponte, Teacher and Coach at Waller High School
Recognized by co-worker Alyssa Ramirez, Aponte is celebrated for his commitment to every student and athlete. “He goes the extra mile for every student and athlete, always leading with patience and care,” Ramirez shared.

Jubilee team members surprised each winner with the news in their classrooms before the end of the school year, adding a joyful spark to the final days of school.

Continuing the Tradition

This is the second round of Joyful Heart Awards distributed during the 2024–2025 school year, following the fall semester’s honorees: Mallory Thomas (Roberts Road Elementary), Shauntanay Blair (Waller Junior High), and Yolonda Singleton (Waller High School).

Launched in October 2024, the Joyful Heart Award is part of Jubilee’s ongoing support for education and community wellness. Each semester, students, families, and staff at Roberts Road Elementary, Waller Junior High, and Waller High School are invited to nominate educators who have made a lasting impact. A total of $6,000 is awarded annually.

Looking Ahead

Nominations for the Fall 2025 semester will open October 1 and close November 10. Jubilee encourages everyone in the school community to recognize the incredible educators who make a difference every day.

Jubilee and Waller ISD: A Growing Partnership

The partnership between Jubilee and Waller ISD continues to expand. The district has purchased land for three schools within Jubilee, including an elementary school, the future Larry D. Johnson Junior High—named in honor of Johnson Development’s founder—and Warren Ranch High School. The high school is expected to open in August 2028, with the junior high potentially following in August 2029.

Wellness-Inspired Living at Jubilee

In addition to supporting education, Jubilee promotes wellness across all aspects of community life. Homes by eight premier builders—Chesmar Homes, Coventry Homes, David Weekley Homes, Highland Homes, Newmark Homes, Perry Homes, Tri Pointe Homes, and Westin Homes—start from the $320,000s and feature thoughtful wellness-oriented designs often considered upgrades in other communities.
