From Books to Bouquets: Harvest Green’s Spring Harvest

Harvest Green - From Books to Bouquets: Harvest Green’s Spring Harvest

June 16, 2025

Spring sprouted, and the Village Farm was ripe with activity! We rolled up our sleeves, dug into the dirt and sowed the seeds for some seriously a-maize-ing events this season. “Lettuce” leaf through the highlights of the season:

Weeding Never Looked So Good

Nothing says spring vibes like getting your hands dirty, and April’s Fig Orchard Beautification Day delivered just that. This twice-a-year tradition had volunteers rolling up their sleeves, wielding tools like pros and giving the fig trees the VIP treatment. Translation? Weeding out the competition (aka pesky plants) and laying down a fresh, cozy mulch blanket for the orchard’s finest residents. The orchard looked stunning after its glow-up, and we liked to think the fig trees whispered a little thank you in the breeze.

A Farmers Market Double Feature

April wasn’t just about trees, it was also about books and paper shredders. The Harvest Green Farmers Market pulled out all the stops with an Indie Book Fair, where shoppers could snag exciting new reads. Meanwhile, the Paper Shred Truck was stationed nearby, offering the perfect opportunity to say goodbye to outdated tax documents and questionable 90s poetry collections.

Ponies, Mocktails and All the Herb Puns

May started off with a bang (and some neighs) at the D(herb)y Day Market, where we combined the Kentucky Derby with National Herb Day because, well, why not? Visitors got to snap photos with an adorable pony. There were refreshing mint julep mocktails on hand to keep things cool and classy. And of course, herbs were the real MVPs of the day. Whether you were a casual basil fan or a hardcore cilantro advocate, this event had everyone saying, “herb your enthusiasm!”

Flowers, Feelings and Farm Fresh Fun

Let’s talk about the sweetest event of the season, the annual Mother’s Day Bouquet Making event. Visitors of all ages gathered to craft their own bouquets using vibrant, fresh flowers grown right on the Village Farm. There were flowers in every shade of the rainbow, so no two bouquets were alike—just like the moms they were made for.

Birds, Binoculars and Farmer Nathan

Apparently, the Village Farm isn’t just a great spot for humans—it’s also a five-star resort for migratory birds. In May, we celebrated World Migratory Bird Day with a guided bird walk led by Farmer Nathan, our resident bird whisperer and all-around nature enthusiast. Armed with binoculars and a sense of adventure, visitors strolled through the farm, spotting migratory birds and learning cool bird facts. Did you know the Village Farm is considered a birding hotspot in Fort Bend County? Neither did we, but now we can’t stop bragging about it.

Time to Embrace Summer Vibes

As we bid farewell to spring, it’s time to embrace the summer vibes—and with that comes a small schedule change. The Harvest Green Farmers Market will now run from 9 a.m. to noon instead of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., because let’s face it, Texas heat waits for no one.

Speaking of Summer

Summer at the Village Farm is going to be just as fun as spring, maybe even better. We’ll have story hours, yoga, smoothies and our annual tomato showcase. And while you’re here, check out Harvest Green’s other amenities including The Farmhouse amenity complex, trails, lake, parks and playgrounds. See you there!
