October 27, 2025

The annual OutRun Hunger 5k Family Walk and Run hosted by Harvest Green continues to set records, recently raising $43,700 for the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry.

More than 479 adults, 101 children and 48 sponsors participated in this year’s event, benefiting the non-profit organization’s food pantry and mission to help families and individuals during times of temporary financial crisis.

“We raised about $8,700 more this year than the previous one, which is phenomenal,” said Megan Leonhardt, Director of Development for East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry.

“We just can’t thank the Fort Bend community enough. One hundred percent of the proceeds from OutRun Hunger go bck to ministry to help feed our Fort Bend County neighbors.”

Approximately $210,200 has been raised by the run since its launch. The money will be used by the organization to provide food and financial assistance to children, families and seniors. In 2024, the organization’s food pantry provided relief for

8873 families, helping nearly 32,000 from food insecurity, and distributed $2.5 million in groceries.

The race ended with an after-party at the finish line for participants and their cheering squads. The top three male finishers were Michael Quiroga, Darren Stewart and DeMarcus Peterson. The top three female finishers were Anaya Jiwa, Alyanna Dimaculangan and Arij Farran.

Memorial Hermann Sugar Land was the run’s title sponsor for the fifth year in a row. Medals were sponsored by Newmark Homes. Platinum sponsors included Talyard Brewing Co., Karla Arjona Realty Services, Southminster Presbyterian Church, UpClose Magazine, AES Fluids, Cornerstone Christian Academy and Primeway Federal Credit Union.

"We are so pleased we can host this race year after year," said Kore Deaville, Director of Marketing for Harvest Green. "The participants are so lovely and so willing to help their neighbors. It’s very inspiring."
