Cross Creek West - Lamar CISD Leader Named Finalist for National Superintendent of the Year® Award

Lamar CISD’s own Superintendent Dr. Roosevelt Nivens has received yet another honor — being named a finalist for the 2026 National Superintendent of the Year® Award by The School Superintendents Association (AASA).

This award, co-presented by AASA, Corebridge Financial, and Sourcewell, recognizes exceptional superintendents for their outstanding leadership and dedication to advancing public education in their communities.

The finalists were nominated by their state associations and honored with the title of State Superintendent of the Year. The winner will be selected based on how they creatively meet the needs of students, communication skills, professionalism, and community involvement.

The winner will be announced during the AASA’s National Conference on Education in February.

A $10,000 college scholarship will be presented in the name of the 2026 National Superintendent of the Year® to a student in the high school from which the superintendent graduated or the school now serving the same area.
