Autumn Adventures on the Village Farm

Harvest Green - Autumn Adventures on the Village Farm

December 31, 2025

Oh, fall. The time of year when the air gets crisp (or at least, slightly less like a sauna), the leaves maybe turn a little yellow if we’re lucky, and pumpkin spice takes over every aspect of our lives. At the Harvest Green Village Farm, we embraced the season with a cornucopia of events that were as festive as they were fun.

Hive to Harvest

September kicked things off with the buzz-worthy Hive to Harvest event at the Harvest Green Farmers Market. A local beekeeper (and likely bee whisperer) gave us all a crash course on the secret lives of bees. Visitors learned about pollination, honey benefits, and how to be the best bee allies, like planting bee-friendly flowers and, you know, not swatting at them like they’re tiny flying villains.

Farm Fall Kickoff

October was when we pulled out all the stops for the annual Fall Kickoff. It was the kind of event where you could find both a football inflatable and live goats—because why settle for one form of entertainment when you can have them all? Kids (and let’s be honest, plenty of adults) got to visit with the farm’s resident goats and chickens, who, to no one’s surprise, totally stole the show.

Thanksgiving Holiday Market

November turned up the festive vibes with the Thanksgiving Holiday Market. This special pre-Thanksgiving event featured a veggie stand brimming with fresh produce and artisanal vendor booths loaded with everything you didn’t know you needed until you saw it. And let’s not forget the craft station where attendees could create decoupage pumpkins. It was a hit with all ages, proving that no one is too cool to bedazzle a pumpkin.

Pizza and a Movie

Fall started melding into winter, but the farm wasn’t done just yet. December brought a special, open-to-the-public pizza-and-movie event. There were four pizza options, including a veggie option made with the freshest ingredients straight from the farm—peppers, fennel, spinach, and probably a little holiday magic. Guests could enjoy their pizza picnic-style while watching The Grinch or take it to-go.

Harvest Report

While we were busy petting goats and crafting pumpkins, the Village Farm’s greenhouse was hard at work. Seeds planted back in August sprouted into leafy greens that braved the awkward transition from summer heat to fall chill. By October, we were swimming in Swiss chard, collard greens, and veggies with names so fancy, they sound like they belong on a Michelin-star menu (looking at you, Tokyo bekana and komatsuna). In January you will be able to pick up kale (curly and dino), mustard greens, radishes, carrots, spinach, scallions, and even watermelon radishes.

Looking for a Winter Home?

We had a great fall, but now it’s time to gear up for winter. Sure, there’s a chance we might get a freak snowfall, but as long as there’s fresh produce, handmade crafts, and maybe another pizza night, we’re ready to “turnip” for whatever winter has in store. Until next season. Keep calm, “carrot” on, and purchase your new home in Harvest Green today!
