From restaurants serving sushi to loaded baked potatoes, several new businesses have recently opened near Kresston with many more on the horizon—including Academy Sports & Outdoors, Olive Garden, and WildeFlora Coffee.
Magnolia Kresston is a short drive from the ever-growing list of shopping and dining destinations in Magnolia:
Akashi Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar opened in December at the crosshairs of Spur 149 and FM 1488, serving up sushi rolls and hibachi. This follows Texas Roadhouse’s opening earlier in the fall in the same area.
This year, work is expected to begin at Spur 149 and FM 1488 on a new 55,000-square-foot Academy Sports & Outdoors, a sporting goods store that offers apparel, camping gear, and sports equipment.
Nearby, Texas Regional Bank opened in December along FM 1488 near Spur 149, offering a new option for locals to receive personal and business banking services. A permit has also been filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for construction to begin on a PNC Bank in the area this spring.
Two new coffee shops have also announced plans to open in nearby Magnolia. WildeFloraCoffee is expecting to open along Magnolia Boulevard in 2026, and JB Sweet Temptations Coffee, Bakery and Cake Design hasn’t yet announced an opening date but is making plans to open soon on Roy Street.
Montgomery Just a few minutes north of Kresston, 336 Bar and Grill opened in Montgomery in December, giving a nearby option for cold drinks, food, and live music.
Indulge in loaded baked potatoes, salads, and milkshakes at the newest location of Every-Bellies Baked and Loaded that opened along Hwy. 105 in Montgomery in January.
Soon, The Woodlands-based Caffé di Fiore will also be opening its second location in Montgomery, dishing up a culinary fusion of Mexican and Italian flavors at its family-friendly restaurant along Hwy. 105.
For more country vibes, take a short drive up FM 1097 in Montgomery and find farm-to-table products, handmade goods, and a wine bar at Ranch Revival Country Store, which opened in December.
Texas First Bank and TownWell Veterinary Clinic are also planning to open in Montgomery along Hwy. 105 this spring.
Tomball Tomball sits just a short drive south from Kresston on Hwy. 249.
With an already charming Old Town area to explore, the recently opened 1821 Coffee Fusionadds to the flavors with its handcrafted drinks and desserts along Houston Street. Nearby, Coaches Cigar Lounge opened in December, featuring a walk-in humidor and a lounge to smoke cigars and watch sports.
New fitness options are also now open in Tomball, including Hotworx Tomball that opened in December and Collective Houston—a fitness studio and cafe—that opened in November.
More good eats are also on the table as Tony C’s Pizza and Beer Garden, Cheddars, Carrabas Italian Grill, and Olive Garden have all filed permits for opening along Hwy. 249 in Tomball this year.
