Grange - Celebrating Our 2025 Achievements
January 26, 2026
Last year was a big one for Grange as we celebrated important firsts and welcomed thousands into our community, setting the stage for many more milestones to come. Let’s take a look:
An Impressive Grange Grand Opening
More than 1,500 people came to Home on the Grange in April, our official grand opening. Capturing the vision of Grange, the grand opening immersed attendees in an interactive, small Texas downtown experience, with large-scale booths crafted to resemble a flower shop, five & dime, soda fountain, coffee shop, lemonade stand, and popsicle shop. It was a creative preview of the community’s future hometown hub. Additional activities included face painting, a petting zoo, balloon artist and caricature artists. Guests were also able to shop local vendors at a mini farmers market.
The event also showcased our first model homes, and guests could participate in a scavenger hunt through the homes by builders David Weekley Homes, Drees Custom Homes, Highland Homes, Newmark Homes, Perry Homes and Westin Homes to win prizes that included $200 gift cards. It was an amazing way to celebrate our official opening — six families were so impressed that day that they later bought homes in Grange!
Welcome Home, Moore Family — the First Grange Residents
Even more exciting than opening our first model homes was welcoming our first residents. Jacob and Danielle Moore have lived in Katy for 10 years but were looking for a new home that would serve their needs as their children grew. They also wanted a place that felt like a hometown. In Grange, they found both, moving into their new Highland home last summer.
“The goal of Grange aligns perfectly with what we wanted,” Danielle said, “a close community, people we enjoy being around, and a feeling of home.”
Announcing Ricestead, A New Kind of Amenity Center
Last fall we introduced everyone to our vision for a new kind of community gathering hub, Ricestead. This amenity center stretches the boundaries of a traditional center, combining pools, sport courts, expansive open space and retail into a central community space that will be a magnet for residents.
Inspired by Texas’ charming town squares and Katy’s rich history, Ricestead will be proof that vintage vibes and modern perks can co-exist. A large village green will be a central focus of the 20-acre complex, designed for outdoor concerts, farmers markets, seasonal celebrations and more. Adjacent to the communal lawn will be the Harvest Hall clubhouse, offering a fitness center and a community room as well as co-working space, a conference room, and offices for homeowners association and lifestyle staff. It will anchor a resort-style pool and separate lap pool. Nearby will be a playground as well as an open-air pickleball pavilion with six courts.
The portion of Ricestead along Franz Road, a major corridor for Grange, will be a curated mix of retail reflecting the spirit of the community.
Ricestead breaks ground this year.
Grange Becoming Part of the Katy Community
We celebrated two important milestones last year that solidified our standing within the Katy community. The Katy Area Chamber of Commerce officially welcomed Grange to the area during a ribbon cutting ceremony in June.
Also, the chamber — along with the Katy Times — recognized Grange as the area’s Best Developer in the annual Best of Katy honors.
We are thrilled to be part of this vibrant community and look forward to many years of collaborations with local businesses!
Awarding Our First Scholarships
We awarded the first $5,000 scholarships of The Grange by Johnson Development Corp. College Scholarship Program to two very deserving Katy ISD seniors last year — Natalie Michael and Crystal Yang.
Natalie, who graduated from Jordan High School, is attending Texas A&M University at College Station with a major in public health on the pre-dental path and minors in neurology and finance. She hopes to become a dentist and use those skills to serve underprivileged African communities through H.O.P.E. Social Services.
Crystal, a Katy High School graduate, is attending the University of Pennsylvania where she is majoring in business and computer science. Crystal is the founder and CEO of Audemy.org, a non-profit educational game platform for blind students.
The scholarship program is continuing, with applications accepted through March 1, 2026. A new set of scholarship recipients will be announced this spring.
Having Fun In Grange
Beyond the grand opening, the public was invited to a trio of Grange events last year that showcased our small-town lifestyle.
September’s Sip and See invited guests to indulge in complimentary coffee from Citizens Coffee and mini pancakes from Local Cart while enjoying activities such as face painting, sidewalk chalk fun and a kid-friendly scavenger hunt. While the kids played, adults could explore eight professionally decorated model homes and meet with Alyssa Brewer, Grange Lifestyle Director.
Granger then hosted Granger Things, a Stranger Things-inspired spook-tacular, in October. Costumed travelers explored The Upside Down Route, a treat trail packed with candy, while enjoying spooky beats, not-so-scary vibes, and opportunities for Insta-worthy pics.
In December, Santa made his first official visit to Grange, touching down at Henley Park, much to the delight of area children. His visit was accompanied by flight-attendant elves, festive tunes, holiday treats and warm drinks. Children could write and deliver letters to the big man and pose for holiday photos.
Wrapping Up
From milestone moments to meaningful connections, last year marked the beginning of something truly special at Grange. We can’t wait to see what’s ahead for 2026 as wewelcome even more residents and visitors to Grange!
