Jubilee Attracts First-Time Home Buyers with Wellness Features and ValueMarch 16, 2026
First-time home buyers are finding their place in Jubilee. Nearly 32 percent of the 372 homes sold so far in Jubilee have been purchased by first-time home buyers. Last year, that number was even higher — 35 percent. David Hogue, Vice President and General Manager of Jubilee, says people buying homes in the community are generally younger and are looking for more than their first home. “They are looking for a community with a purpose.” As Texas’ first wellness community, Jubilee fulfills that wish. Each home in Jubilee is built to wellness standards set for the community, which is an early adopter of the International Well Building Institute’s WELL for residential program, designed to transform the way homes are designed, built and maintained to support human health and well-being. Community features are designed to foster wellness through connection, exploration, inspiration and reflection, and 125 homes have received a IWBI WELL Residence certification. These first-time buyers are also finding homes priced within their budget — particularly with Chesmar Homes’ new Chateau Collection. With floor plans priced from the low $290,000s, the collection has appealed to those moving into homeownership. Three quarters of sales so far have been to first-time home buyers. It’s that combination of price point and lifestyle that is appealing to buyers, says Chesmar Sales Representative Jillian Kahn Donalson. “A main draw for our buyers is, of course, affordability, but they are also wanting the feel of community Jubilee offers,” she said. “And when they learn about the wellness features, they are blown away. Who wouldn’t want a home and community that supports their health?” Kayla Beirne, who is buying a home in Jubilee along with her fiancé, Alec Bagby, said she was impressed with the wellness features and even more wowed by Jubilee’s sense of community. “We started looking for a home last summer but didn’t find what we wanted for our first home,” she said. “We wanted to love it and say ‘this is the place I want to be.’” They discovered Jubilee in October. “I love the sense of community here,” Beirne said. “There’s an app where they post events where people can get together — that’s really important to us, especially after COVID.” They found a good fit with Chesmar Homes, as well. “The Chateau Collection is great for first-time homeowners,” she said. “The lot size is much more manageable for someone coming from an apartment — it will be a better adjustment for us.” Their home will be complete later this year when they will swap a 1,250-square-foot apartment for their new 1,866-square foot Chantilly II floor plan, one of Chesmar’s most popular plans within the Chateau Collection. “The Chantilly II has a large living, dining and kitchen space with a floating island,” Kahn-Donalson said. “Buyers seem to love the vaulted ceiling heights as well as the primary bath’s separate tub and shower and shower seat.” She said the Chantilly exemplifies the collection’s affordable luxury. “Though these are smaller homes, they still have the same luxury finishes as our higher-end homes have,” Kahn-Donalson said. “This includes 6-inch baseboards, quartz countertops throughout the home, 42-inch kitchen cabinets and wooden and iron stair parts. Plus they can mix and match their color selections when building from the ground up.” First-time home buyers Larrick and Whitney Curry also selected the Chantilly II. “The layout feels spacious yet practical, with a natural flow that’s ideal for both everyday living and entertaining,” Whitney said. “It offers flexibility and comfort without feeling overwhelming, which made it the perfect fit for our needs.” Whitney said she expects homeownership to provide a sense of stability and accomplishment. “Renting never gave me the sense of permanence or pride I was looking for, and owning a home felt like the right step toward building long-term security and creating a space that reflects my lifestyle,” she said. The Currys’ home is expected to be complete in May, and Whitney hopes to be home in Jubilee for many years. “Jubilee stood out because of its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful surroundings, and thoughtful community design,” she said. “I loved that it offers a balance of quiet living while still being conveniently located. The community feels welcoming and well-planned, making it easy to envision settling in long-term.” For first-time buyers seeking more than just a house — a home that supports their health, fosters connection and fits their budget — Jubilee is proving to be the perfect place to begin. Chesmar’s Chateau Collection model home is now open daily at 16707 Jolly Dawn Drive in Hockley.
