Katy’s Future Shines Bright with 2026 Scholarship Winners

Grange - Katy’s Future Shines Bright with 2026 Scholarship Winners

April 14, 2026

This year, two extraordinary Katy ISD seniors, Allison Willingham and Casey Scherpereel, are receiving a huge boost to their college dreams thanks to The Grange by Johnson Development Corp. College Scholarship Program. Each will take home $5,000 in scholarship funds to fuel their academic pursuits and continue making an impact on the world around them.

Designed to assist with tuition, books, room and board, or any education-related expenses, the scholarship program reflects our commitment to empowering young minds in the Katy community. This is the second year the scholarships have been offered.

Willingham is a senior at Morton Ranch High School while Scherpereel attends James E Taylor High School. It’s impossible not to feel inspired when you hear about their accomplishments.

Allison, a senior at Morton Ranch High School, has truly done it all. With a jaw-dropping 4.68 weighted GPA, she’s ranked sixth in her class and holds an impressive track record of success. She’s aced numerous AP exams, earned the title of AP Scholar With Distinction, and plans to major in chemical and nuclear engineering at Texas A&M University this fall. But Allison isn’t just about academics. She’s a three-sport athlete, a first-chair violinist in her school’s orchestra, a member of five honor societies, and even the owner of her own business, Willingham Card Company. Oh, and did we mention she volunteers regularly at the Maud Marks Public Library?

Meanwhile, over at James E. Taylor High School, Casey Scherpereel is making waves of her own. With a 4.3 weighted GPA, Casey has excelled in a rigorous lineup of AP courses in physics, chemistry, and precalculus—all while serving as Class President for three years and taking on leadership roles in organizations like the National Charity League. This fall, she’ll head to the University of Houston to major in electrical engineering, bringing her talents in math and programming to the table.

But it’s not just her academic and leadership skills that make Casey shine—it’s her heart. She co-founded the Senior Support Squad, a nonprofit dedicated to brightening the lives of senior citizens in Katy. From organizing events to sitting down for heartfelt conversations, Casey has shown that making a difference often comes down to small, consistent acts of kindness.

We at Grange or so pleased to be a part of helping them on their journey. Here’s to a future shaped by their talents!
