Toro Loco Challenge Comes to Riverstone Oct. 27

Riverstone - Toro Loco Challenge Comes to Riverstone Oct. 27

October 04, 2012

Normally known for its pristine landscape, Riverstone invites area residents to get down and dirty during the Oct. 27 Toro Loco Challenge.

The obstacle race offers two events, the 10K Raging Bull, which is designed to test physical strength and endurance and includes a 200-foot zip line, and the Leisurely Longhorn course, a less competitive — but still muddy — challenge for families — and dogs. Supporters can watch the action from Toro Town, a festival that includes concessions, a mechanical bull, dunk tank and other activities. The Riverstone race is one of just two planned this fall in Texas and the only Toro Loco Challenge in the Houston area.

“This event is going to be unlike any other we’ve hosted in Riverstone and should be a big draw for the Houston area,” said Tom Wilcox, general manager of Riverstone. “What’s special about the race is that it challenges serious amateur athletes, but also offers a less intimidating, fun-focused course for others who have been intrigued by this type of event.”

Registration is $75 for individuals and $140 to $1,250 for teams of two to 25, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting local charities. Plus, children’s entry fees are just $20 with a full-priced adult registration. All participants receive a T-shirt and medal, with prizes for the Raging Bull course’s top male and female finishers in their age categories. Prizes also will be awarded for best and worst costume, best team name, worst-dressed dog and others. Plus, event organizers will award special prizes to teams that want to challenge another group on the course.
