Jubilee - Jubilee Honors Three Waller ISD Educators With $1,000 AwardsMay 25, 2026
Three Waller ISD educators were recently honored with the $1,000 Jubilee Joyful Heart Award for going above and beyond for their students. This is the third year for the award which takes nominations from students, family members of students and co-workers of teachers and staff at the three schools serving Jubilee — Roberts Road Elementary, Waller Junior High and Waller High School. A public vote from a group of finalists determines the winner. "We were so excited to surprise these three outstanding educators with this award," said David Hogue, Vice President and General Manager of Jubilee. “It was heartwarming to read their nominations and know that students, family members and co-workers saw their dedication and felt they deserved to award for it.” Alyssa Higgins was presented with the award for Roberts Road Elementary. Nominations for the first-grade teacher describe her as an attentive, hands-on teacher with one person saying, "She is always so creative when it comes to the students’ work. She is consistent with her curriculum and makes my child feel at home away from home." Physical education teacher and athletic coach Ashton Phillips received the award for giving 110 percent for her athletes at Waller Junior High with a co-worker saying, "The students all look up to her, and she sets a great example. She’s an amazing co-worker, always willing to step in and be a team player." Waller High School teacher and coach Kassie Fincke was nominated for her leadership skills. "Coach Fincke goes above and beyond both in the classroom and on the volleyball court," a nominator said. "She is the social studies department chair and is always willing to help out her team and be a great leader." The teachers were surprised at their schools by members of the Jubilee team and principle in May. The Joyful Heart Award is given once per quarter.
