A First Look at Kresston’s Future Elementary School

The future of Kresston is taking shape — and now, we’re getting our first look at one of the most exciting additions planned for the community.

At its August 10 meeting, the Magnolia ISD Board of Trustees reviewed the initial designs for Elementary School #10, the new elementary school planned within Kresston. The newly unveiled renderings offer an early glimpse of the campus that is anticipated to welcome students in August 2028.

Designed for Learning — and Connection

The early designs show a school created with more than classrooms in mind.

Plans emphasize natural light, open spaces and areas designed for collaboration and project-based learning. At the heart of the campus is a central library envisioned not only as an academic space, but also as a gathering place.

Throughout the school, additional collaboration areas are planned to give students opportunities for small-group instruction and hands-on learning.

For Kresston, seeing these first renderings makes an important part of the community's long-term vision feel a little more real.

A School Close to Home

Magnolia ISD's Elementary School #10 is planned along Kresston Parkway within the Kresston community and is being funded through the district's voter-approved 2026 bond program.

The approximately $54 million project is currently in the design and planning phase, with construction anticipated to begin in 2027 and the school projected to open in August 2028.

For future Kresston families, having an elementary school within the community could add another dimension to everyday life — with school activities, classmates and community connections all potentially happening closer to home.

Growing Alongside Magnolia ISD

The new campus comes as Magnolia ISD continues to plan for enrollment growth throughout the district.

The 2026 bond program includes not only Elementary School #10 at Kresston, but additional facilities and improvements designed to help the district prepare for its growing student population.

As Kresston grows alongside the surrounding area, the future school represents another important investment taking shape within the community.

Part of Kresston's Bigger Picture

From the beginning, Kresston has been envisioned as more than a collection of neighborhoods. Parks, trails, gathering spaces, amenities and opportunities for connection are all part of creating a place where everyday life can happen closer to home.

A future elementary school adds another important piece to that vision.

Today's new neighborhoods will become established streets. New amenities will become favorite gathering places. Community events will become family traditions.

And in the years ahead, Kresston's landscape will include a new place dedicated to learning, growing and bringing people together.

More to Come

With the first designs now unveiled, there will be plenty more to watch as Elementary School #10 moves from plans on paper to a new campus within Kresston.

The project is expected to move through construction-document development later this year, with Magnolia ISD currently anticipating construction from spring 2027 through summer 2028 and an August 2028 opening.

Kresston will continue sharing updates as the school progresses.

And for now, we're excited to share this first look at another piece of Kresston's future.
