Riverstone - Registration Opens for Annual Heart and Sole 5K

Area residents can participate in this year’s annual Heart and Sole 5K whether they have a good pair of soles or a kind soul — or both — as organizers will be collecting gently used and new running shoes for the Fort Bend Women’s Center during the Sept. 21 race.

Heart and Sole comprises two races through Riverstone, a one-mile Kids’ Fun Run for youth ages 12 and younger at 5:45 p.m. and a 5K Run and Walk at 6:15 p.m. The race will begin in the Offices of Riverstone parking lot, 4722 Riverstone Boulevard. Pre-registration costs are $25 for adults and $10 for children. Same-day registration is available but will be $35 and $20, respectively. Race packets may be picked from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20, at the Riverstone Information Center, 4855 Riverstone Boulevard.

Racers and their supporters can enjoy post-race activities, including a rock climbing wall, moonwalk, photo booth and more. A DJ will add to the fun. Each racer will receive a commemorative T-shirt. Children’s strollers are allowed on the course, but pets are not.

The Fort Bend Women’s Center is accepting running shoes for men, women and youth.
