Riverstone - Riverstone-Sienna Plantation Bridge Opens Dec. 3

November 25, 2013

A ceremony set for 4 p.m. Dec. 3 will officially open a physical link between sister communities Sienna Plantation and Riverstone, as dignitaries cut the ribbon spanning a bridge over the Flat Bank Creek diversion channel.

Fort Bend County Judge Bob Hebert, driving a golf cart from Sienna Plantation, will meet The Johnson Development Corp.’s Larry Johnson, arriving from Riverstone, at the center of the bridge, where they will simultaneously cut the ceremonial ribbon. Both Riverstone and Sienna Plantation are Johnson Development projects.

The bridge connects LJ Parkway in Riverstone to Sienna Springs Road in Sienna Plantation, offering an alternative to Highway 6. The roadway also provides another route to the Fort Bend Parkway, which currently is being extended from Highway 6 to Sienna Parkway, just south of the Sienna Springs Road intersection. That project should be completed at the end of the year.

“Building this back door to Riverstone and Sienna Plantation should relieve congestion on Highway 6,” said Tom Wilcox, general manager of Riverstone. “Accessibility in the area will be enhanced further when LJ Parkway, named for Johnson Development president Larry Johnson, connects with Commonwealth Boulevard, which is planned for late next year.”

The bridge will be open to traffic at 5 p.m. following the event.
