As new homes, backyard vegetable gardens and fields of fresh produce emerge in Fort Bend’s Harvest Green, construction has started on one of the master-planned community’s signature features, a sprawling, tree-lined family gathering place to be known as The Farmhouse.

Encircled by paved walking and biking paths, The Farmhouse in Harvest Green will feature a state-of-the-art fitness center, family pool with spacious sitting areas, ample shade structures and a splash pad outside the pool gates for year-round enjoyment. The new venue will include a lakeside amphitheater for concerts and performances, a lush event lawn, park and playground. The Farmhouse also will offer a wellness room and multipurpose room for events planned by Harvest Green’s full-time Lifestyle Director.

Slated to open in fall 2016, the build out of the facility begins with the construction of new homes in full swing. Eleven model homes in Harvest Green, each fully furnished and professionally decorated, also are open daily.

“With about 100 new homes under construction at the end of 2015, we’re very pleased with the response to Harvest Green,” says Shay Shafie, general manager of the 1,300-acre community by The Johnson Development Corp.  “The start of The Farmhouse is another very positive sign for the community.”

The Farmhouse will be located within walking or biking distance from every section in Harvest Green, Shafie adds.

Harvest Green also has broken ground on the community’s Village Farm where residents can lease 20’ x 20’ plots to grow their own vegetables.

Houston’s first master-planned community with an on-site farm, neighborhood and backyard gardens, Harvest Green is located at the Grand Parkway and Harlem Road, minutes from the Energy Corridor to the north and Sugar Land to the south.

The Fort Bend community offers new homes from the mid $200’s by D.R. Horton, Lennar Homes, Newmark Homes, and Plantation Homes.  New homes from the $300’s are available by Highland Homes, Meritage Homes, Perry Homes and Westin Homes. New home plans also are available from the $400’s by Darling Homes, David Weekley Homes and Trendmaker Homes.

As part of the Harvest Green experience, families can also choose to have a raised, ready-to-grow vegetable garden installed in their backyards.  The backyard vegetable gardens, now on display between the community’s model homes, can be purchased directly from Harvest Green homebuilders as part of every new home purchase.
