January 11, 2016

The Johnson Development Corp. is once again winning national notice; this time, as the only residential developer to have multiple projects on two recently released reports of the nation’s top 20 best-selling master-planned communities.

Riverstone, a Johnson community in Fort Bend County, is ranked No. 5 on lists compiled by independent research firms John Burns Real Estate Consulting and Robert Charles Lesser & Co. (RCLCO). The 3,700-acre development is the highest-placed Texas community. It is the fourth consecutive year for Riverstone to be ranked among the nation’s top 10 best-selling communities and the second consecutive year for the development to be listed No. 1 in Texas.

Appearing at No. 19 on the RCLCO list is Woodforest, a Johnson Development project in South Montgomery County. The community is tied for No. 20 on the tally by John Burns Real Estate Consulting. It is the third consecutive year for 3,000-acre Woodforest to earn a spot among the country’s 20 top-selling developments.

“These two communities epitomize the high standards Johnson Development has established for its projects, blending exceptional amenities, prime locations, top-ranked schools and beautiful homes by reputable builders to create vibrant hometowns,” said Doug Goff, Johnson Development’s Chief Operating Officer.

The Johnson Development Corp. also ranked as Houston’s most prolific developer with four projects including on a Houston Business Journal list of the “Most Active Houston-Area Residential Communities.” The four communities — Riverstone, Woodforest, Cross Creek Ranch and Sienna Plantation — accounted for 25 percent of the 7,812 homes started within the 25 developments named on the list.

The Johnson Development Corp. is in its 41st year as one of the nation’s preeminent land developers. It has 13 active projects in the Houston area, and recently announced the purchase of 590 acres in Richmond for a seventh Fort Bend community. Johnson is also developing the 8,100-acre Lake Arrowhead community in Atlanta and Viridian, a 2,300-acre master-planned community in Arlington. In October, the company won Houston’s Best PRISM Grand Award-Developer for 2015 in a ceremony hosted by the Greater Houston Builders Association.
