Harvest Green - Experience Culinary Creativity at Chef Fest Feb. 25

February 06, 2017

Local chefs will put their farm-to-table chops to the test creating spectacular dishes with Harvest Green produce at the premier outdoor food festival of the year — Chef Fest.

The inaugural event takes place from noon to 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, at 602 Vineyard Hollow Court.

Attendees will be able to purchase tickets that can be used to buy small plates prepared by well-known chefs such as Chris Zettlemoyer formerly of Boudreaux’s Cajun Kitchen, Adam Garcia formerly of Coltivare and The Pass and Provisions, Tam Hoang of Underground Cafe, Lawrence Tyrone of Ty's Gourmet Spices and Smoked Meats and private chef Kerri Allee. Tickets are 1 for $5, 3 for $13 and 6 for $22.

While the chefs are the event’s centerpiece, there will be other activities. Children can participate in an interactive cooking lesson and, if inspiration hits, festival participants will be able to shop for ingredients at the farmers market. Messina Hof winery and SpindleTap Brewery representatives will be on hand to talk about their wines and craft beers.

Market vendors include Gramen Farms, Blockhouse Coffee, Ty’s Spice, Great Harvest Bread Company - Katy, Monica Charles Designs, All We Need Farm, SheCupcakes, Texas Honey Trading Co., 4 Paws Gourmet Dog Treats, Harvest Green Village Farm and Loam Agronomics.

A portion of the proceeds from Chef Fest will benefit the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry. The non-profit, which assists Fort Bend residents in temporary financial crisis, will have three booths — one of which will allow children to help families in need. Children can bring a lunch item such as such as granola bars, crackers or pudding cups and decorate a sack lunch that will go to a local child.

In addition to good food and opportunities to replicate the chefs’ efforts at home, attendees also will enjoy yard games, live music and farm tours. Spring Free will offfer smart trampoline demonstrations. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Admission is free.
