Trinity Falls - Make it a McKinney Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend traditionally kicks off the summer months, but before you fire up the grill, take some time to go out for these Memorial Day events in McKinney.

Bike the Bricks Criterium Race and Family Festival
Friday, May 26, 3-11 p.m.
Historic Downtown McKinney, 111 N. Tennessee St.

The fast and the furious will cycle through Downtown McKinney during this popular USA Cycling event featuring nearly 500 cyclists. Also enjoy live music, delicious food and adult beverages. We’re a sponsor, so make sure to stop by the Children’s Area to say hi!

Smiles Charity Concert and Festival
Sunday, May 28, 5-10:30 p.m.

Pop sensation Andy Grammer headlines this annual concert benefiting wounded veterans and their families. Gyth Rigdon and the Maylee Thomas Band also will perform during the festival, which features a children’s activity area, a flyover by WWII airplanes and a spectacular fireworks display.

2017 Pecan Grove Cemetery Memorial Day Tribute

The 33rd annual event pays tribute to America’s troops. This year, WWI veterans buried at Pecan Grove also will be honored in recognition of the centennial anniversary of the U.S. entry to WWI. Veterans are encouraged to wear their uniforms and all guests should bring a lawn chair.

Join the McKinney Armed Services Memorial Board for a Memorial Day ceremony at which a Gold Star Family will lay wreaths at the base of the memorial wall. There will be a brief narrative of names newly added to the wall and a bagpiper will play.

100th Anniversary of World War I Exhibit
Ongoing, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursdays-Saturdays
Collin County Historical Society and Museum, 300 W. Virginia St.

This museum exhibit provides an overview of World War I, with special focus on different aspects and outcomes encountered by the United States during their involvement in the Great War. Visitors will be provided with an iPad pre-loaded with apps offering maps, timelines, photographs, and videos about World War I.
