Riverstone - Bark for Life Retrieves $7,500 for Cancer Research

June 12, 2018

Dogs of all shapes and sizes teamed up with their humans to take a bite out of cancer during Bark for Life at Riverstone.

Presented by Lake Olympia Animal Hospital, the annual celebration of man’s best friend, canine cancer caregivers and cancer survivors raised more than $7,500 for the American Cancer Society — $2,500 more than our initial goal!

We got tails wagging with a non-competitive walk for canines and companions, then “raised the woof” with a fabulous pup-friendly after “pawty.” We’re pretty sure a few pooches were hot-dogging to the tunes laid down by our DJ (they did pretty well, considering dogs have two left feet).

The Houston Disc Dogs also were in the house performing high-flying stunts. Vendors offered “pup-ular” dog gear and treats for sale and everyone enjoyed face painters, contests, inflatables, balloon twisters and food trucks. Three hundred lucky dogs received swag bags.

We couldn’t have done any of it without the help of our fabulous sponsors, including Lake Olympia Animal Hospital, Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists, Camp Bow Wow Sugar Land, Sienna Sugar Land Dental Group & Orthodontics and Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming Sienna.

Thank you to everyone who came out. We are looking forward to seeing everyone next year!
