Harvest Green is a Healthy Choice

Harvest Green - Harvest Green is a Healthy Choice

April 27, 2020

Eating well and getting enough exercise are key ingredients in maintaining good health for you and your family. Another ingredient is living in a community focused on making sure you get both.

Harvest Green is Houston’s first farm- and garden-focused community. We provide the tools our residents need to improve their overall well-being so they can live a healthy lifestyle.

One way we do this is to offer something other communities don’t — a working farm and edible landscaping overseen by farm educators. In addition to keeping our crops healthy, their farm blog teaches residents how to grow their own produce and how to use them in the kitchen.

When building a home in Harvest Green, buyers have the option (through their homebuilder) to add a backyard garden that is ready-to-grow by the time you move in. They also have the opportunity to rent farm plots through our Farm Club. Our Farm Educators teach them how to grow food on a larger scale.

Once the stay-at-home mandated is lifted, residents won’t have to go far to get enough exercise. At the moment we are offering virtual classes. Once residents can hit the gym in person, they can participate in a range of exercise classes taught by experienced fitness experts. Residents young and old can participate in yoga, Pilates, strength training and Zumba without having to drive to the gym.

Residents even get five free classes per month, as well as complimentary fitness assessments. For those that enjoy working out on their own, we offer state-of-the art exercise equipment. If they want a personal trainer, we one of those as well.

The Farmhouse also offers a resort-style pool, splash pad and playground for the kids. Our four-legged Fidos can burn off energy at our dog park.

Healthy food and exercise are only part of the equation when it comes to well-being. Social interaction is important, too. Our residents are able to participate in a slew of activities ranging from clubs to activities like Casino Nights and Food Truck Fridays. All of them are overseen by a full-time lifestyle director.

Spending time communing with nature reduces the risk of type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, premature death, stress and high blood pressure, among other things. With a home in Harvest Green, you get 280 acres of greenbelts and open spaces, not to mention 30 acres of lakes, 50 acres of parkland and a walkable trail system.

Yes, we have it all. You can have it, too. Spend some time exploring our website, you’ll see we offer more than any other Houston-area master-planned community.
