Riverstone - A Day For FBISD Schools

July 14, 2011

Kids head back to school Aug. 22, which means parents will have the following Monday free to enter the 11th annual Fort Bend Education Foundation Back to School Scramble golf tournament, set for Aug. 29 at Sweetwater Country Club.

Schlumberger and Sweetwater Country Club are presenting the event, which includes lunch by Chick-fil-A, golf and cart, beverages, a reception after the tournament and special gifts. Individual registration is $275 and cost for a foursome team is $1,000.

Proceeds benefit the foundation, which awarded more than $260,000 in grants to FBISD teachers and schools for the 2010-2011 school year. Some of the foundation's initiatives include the "Grants for Experts" program, which brings in nationally recognized education experts to head training sessions for teachers on such topics as classroom management, character development and differentiated learning strategies. Angel Gifts, which gives school supply gift certificates to new teachers, is another foundation program.

For more information, phone Brenna Smelley at 281/634-1113. The registration deadline is Aug. 19.
