Work Progresses on New Sienna Elementary

Sienna - Work Progresses on New Sienna Elementary

February 04, 2022

Fort Bend ISD is adding to its list of schools located in Sienna — currently numbering seven — with a new elementary school located in the Village of Sienna Oaks.

The two-story school measures an expansive 127,200 square feet and will serve students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Classroom clusters will be served by common spaces, such as a well-stocked library, state-of-the-art computer labs and a cafeteria with performance stage. The school’s design is enhanced by its outdoor spaces, including a large learning courtyard and a second courtyard where students can focus on the arts. A basketball court and two playgrounds will help children burn off excess energy during recess.

The $32 million school, which started construction last June, is about 30 percent complete. The district says it will open in fall 2023.

The new school — currently called “Elementary School 54” but soon to undergo the district’s naming process — joins four other on-site Sienna elementary schools: Sienna Crossing, Scanlan Oaks, Jan Schiff and Donald Leonetti. Two middle schools are found within Sienna’s borders — Baines Middle School and Thornton Middle School. Ridge Point High School is also located in the community. Campuses are tucked into neighborhoods, which allows many students to walk or bike to school. Several private schools are also located in Sienna, including Divine Savior Academy, which serves elementary through high school students.
