Riverstone - Sugar Land Town Square Named Great Place

Riverstone residents know Sugar Land Town Square is a great place for shopping, dining and just hanging out. Now all of Texas knows. The retail center was recently named a 2022 Great Public Space by the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association.

The honor comes as part of the 2022 Great Places in Texas program. Sugar Land Town Center is only the third Houston-area locale to receive the recognition, joining Buffalo Bayou and Discovery Green.

Spaces were evaluated on design, functionality, sustainability, character, quality and community participation. Judges noted Sugar Land Town Square’s excellence in planning as well as the city’s leadership and community partnerships.

The honor comes on the heels of a massive facelift the mixed-use center has been undergoing since 2020. Improvements were made to encourage walkability and the shopping experience.

Developers increased the number of shade trees, updated the storefronts and improved the landscaping. The addition of the Department of Wonder has proved to be a favorite with visitors.

The entertainment space was completed in April. The immersive experience transports people into an interactive fantasy world where they must unravel mysteries and solve puzzles.
