Riverstone Celebrates 10 Years of Development

Riverstone - Riverstone Celebrates 10 Years of Development

October 17, 2011

With 2011 sales 35 percent ahead of last year’s sales and at an all-time record for home sales through August, Riverstone has much to celebrate, including a decade of successful development.

A project of The Johnson Development Corp., Riverstone opened in 2001 and recorded its first sale in September of that year. Now, 10 years later, builders have started more than 1,760 homes and closed more than 1,640. More than 5,000 residents now call Riverstone home.

To mark its 10-year anniversary, Riverstone is giving away 10 $100 Home Depot gift cards during the “10 Great Years” sweepstakes. Those interested can register on Riverstone’s Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/RiverstoneCommunity, or at the Riverstone sales center, 4855 Rivertsone Boulevard. The contest coincides with Riverstone’s Open Homes Spectacular, Oct. 8-23.

A hallmark during Riverstone’s 10-year development was in 2005, when Riverstone announced the acquisition of an additional 1,100 acres to its master plan.

The community also has hosted several large-scale community events throughout the years, including the Tour of Luxury in 2008, which drew more than 6,000 people to Riverstone, and a 2010 visit by internationally known 3-D street artist Tracy Lee Stum. Thousands visited Riverstone to meet the artist and see her work, which received broad news coverage throughout the Houston area.

“What a decade it’s been,” said Tom Wilcox, who has been Riverstone’s general manager from the beginning. “We’ve really seen this community grow and prosper and we anticipate continued success.

“Over the years, Riverstone has positioned itself as the premier master-planned community in Fort Bend County, is ranked as one of the top 10 selling communities in the overall Houston marketplace and is listed among the top 20 in the nation by housing industry consultant Metrostudy.”

Riverstone has introduced several new neighborhoods and models this year, a new price point from the $500,000s to $900,000s and builders Partners in Building and Toll Brothers. Plus, construction on University Boulevard is now underway. When the segment opens in late 2012, it will be the primary roadway through Riverstone, intersecting both Highway 6 and U.S. 59.
