Riverstone - Getting Around is Getting Easier

November 21, 2011

A much-anticipated Riverstone enhancement is a boon to the entire Fort Bend area — the extension of University Boulevard, opening by year’s end 2012. The extension is being built in two segments, a 2-mile roadway through Riverstone, funded by the development, and a 2.2-mile extension from Riverstone’s western boundary to Commonwealth Boulevard. The latter segment is a joint project of Fort Bend County and the City of Sugar Land and is just one of 47 planned Fort Bend County mobility projects, a more than $250 million investment in the area. When complete, University Boulevard will be open to traffic from Highway 6 in Missouri City to U.S. 59 in Sugar Land.

Construction on the final segment of University Boulevard, connecting University Boulevard north of U.S. 59 to U.S. 90A, starts next summer. When complete, University Boulevard will be a significant roadway in Fort Bend County.
