Riverstone - Commonwealth Fifth-Graders Add Up Honors

June 07, 2011

Commonwealth Elementary's after-school contest math club has been named to the National Math Olympiad Honor Roll and was among the top 10 percent of teams with the highest score in the international math competition.

The fifth-graders were among more than 150,000 students who competed in a series of five monthly contests. Special congratulations go to Commonwealth's Stephen Zheng, who received a trophy for earning the highest score among members at his school (24 out of a possible 25 points). All students received certificates of recognition for their participation in the international competition.

Commonwealth is just one of the Fort Bend schools serving Riverstone. Other schools include Austin Parkway, Schiff and Settlers Way elementaries; Baines, First Colony and Fort Settlement middle schools; and Clements and Elkins high schools.
