Time To Get Out and About Safely - Veranda

June 01, 2020

Time to Get Out and About (Safely)

Texas stay-at-home orders have been lifted just in time for summer fun to begin. Getting out and about is a relief (who got a haircut?), but it’s important to do so safely which means continuing social distancing. What can you do? Lots of things!

Take a look at what Veranda residents are doing both in and out of our beautiful community.

Inside Veranda

Hitting the Trails

Veranda residents hit the trails when the stay-at-home order took effect and they are still going for morning jogs, family bike rides and evening walks with their dogs.

Heading to the Gym

Gyms are open, including the Veranda fitness center. We are taking extra precautions to keep our exercising residents safe but they can now burn calories away from home. Personal trainers are also available to help take off those quarantine pounds.

Getting the Kinks Out

Working from home meant losing our ergonomic chairs but residents are working out the kinks with a visit to our on-site spa.

Staying Virtual

For those not quite ready to venture out, we are still offering virtual exercise classes and activities like our recent social distancing scavenger hunt.

Outside Veranda

Visiting State Parks

Veranda residents don’t have to go far to enjoy the beauty of a state park. Brazos Bend State Park is open so everyone can explore 37 miles of trails, do some bird watching or catch a glimpse of an egret fishing in the river. Make sure to get a permit online prior to heading to the park.

Swinging a Club

Golf is a great way to have fun while keeping six feet apart. River Point Golf Club is one a premiere daily fee golf course located along the Brazos River. If you are thinking of becoming a member of a club, Pecan Grove Plantation Country Club and Shady Hawk Golf Club are nearby.

Taking Photos

Don’t just take a walk, take a photography walk. Use your cell phone or bring a digital camera. Historic Richmond has plenty of great architecture on display or tour Richmond’s many parks and capture flowers, butterflies and birds to show off on Instagram and Facebook.

Picnicking and Kite Flying

George Park is one of Richmond’s best. Pack up a picnic, bring a kite and spend the day enjoying sunshine and fresh air.

Donating

Our residents are looking for ways to continue helping those in need and if you are, too, consider donating to food pantries, Meals on Wheels and blood banks.
