The Johnson Development North Houston team was busy this summer, helping 35 Realtors gain their JDC North Houston Realtor certification. This inaugural JDC North Houston Summer School Academy drew strong interest from real estate agents, with more than 250 applying to hone their skills on a variety of topics:
Realtors had to attend four out of the five classes to receive their certification. As a bonus, each class was held at a different Johnson community, including several new communities, so participants could see new amenities and model homes. We celebrated with a graduation ceremony at Seasons 52. Moving from a career in public service to one in real estate, Melissa Caro with Lucky Money – Century 21 found the course especially helpful. “Each presenter—from mortgage companies and lenders to inspectors, insurance providers, and developers—brought valuable knowledge and insight that will help me better serve future clients,” she said. “This academy gave me the confidence and tools I needed to succeed. I left with not only greater knowledge but also a deeper understanding of how to guide clients every step of the way.” Also new to real estate, Massandje “Julie” Diaby with HTX Home Team | Ivy & Co Realty was thankful she was chosen to participate. “The experience went far beyond traditional learning — it gave us a complete, behind-the-scenes view of the industry,” she said. “From learning the fundamentals of mortgages and inspections to understanding how transactions are structured and handled, each session helped build a stronger foundation for my career. “What stood out most was the effort and dedication Monica and her team put into curating this experience. Every speaker they brought in shared invaluable knowledge, encouragement, and passion for the business. Their guidance created such a supportive and inspiring environment that encouraged us to think bigger, move with purpose, and see the real estate business from every angle. A special thanks to our presenters, including Lisa Benoit with Lucky Money Real Estate Century 21, Tricia Turner with the Turner Team–ROA, Paul Evans with Newmark Homes, and Anastasia Taylor with Highland Homes who discussed selling new home construction versus resales. April Zieschang with The Risher Companies spoke about selling lifestyle, and Christina Schaefer with the Houston Association of Realtors tackled social media. Our speakers for the loan, title, warranty, home inspection, and insurance mortgage class were mortgage banker and broker Sonya Bersani with Legend Home Lending, Darrel Creasy with AMVET Inspections, Vanessa Kimball with Kimball Insurance, Josh and Sharon Guzowski with Fidelity Home Warranty, and AVP/Senior Sales Executive Dana Saranathan with Alamo Title.
