Getting to Know Monica and Megan: Beating the Heat

You’ve met them at events, listened to their presentations, but how well do you really know Monica Conchola and Megan Maloney? We’re continuing this fun series to help you really get to know these two dynamos. Here, we’re seeing how they keep their cool during the summer.

This summer has been hot.

That’s not an opinion — it’s fact. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reports that July set an all-time record as the warmest single month ever recorded in the contiguous United States in 132 years of tracking.

And you thought you were just imagining it’s hotter this summer.

Luckily, anyone who has spent some time in Houston has learned tricks for keeping cool. From enjoying time outdoors in the early morning or later in the evening to spending copious amounts of time wandering the Galleria (or anywhere indoors), you’ve likely learned how to avoid the tremendous heat. (You’ve probably also learned to carry a light sweater with you because many local companies love their AC.)

Our intrepid Realtor relations liaisons have their own strategies when temperatures soar. They took a moment from their busy schedules to let us know how they battle the heat of summer. 

Monica Conchola

Poolside — that’s where you’ll find Monica during her off-time when the summer heats up. Margaritaville is a favorite destination, but she really enjoys spending time with friends Becky and Will by their pool. (She’s sending out a huge thank you to them!) Refreshing beverages are another tactic. Her favs are:

• Cucumber/lemon juice
• Melon juice
• Mango nectar juice
• Coca-Cola

Megan Maloney

While Monica can be found outdoors, Megan is usually in full mom mode both inside and outside when she’s not working. With two young children, life outside of work stays just as busy! You can usually find Megan and her family at home enjoying their little farm or out and about, from sports and birthday parties to whatever else happens to be on the family calendar that weekend.

And when there’s finally a little downtime, Megan is perfectly happy at home in the AC, getting the house back in order and resetting before the next busy week begins. 

Now you know how the dynamic duo manages to face summer with such aplomb, each in their own way!
