Chesmar Homes Breaks Ground on Benefit Home in Nolina

Nolina - Chesmar Homes Breaks Ground on Benefit Home in Nolina

April 29, 2025

Chesmar Homes recently broke ground on a new Benefit Home in Nolina, with proceeds of the sale benefiting Home Builders Association of Greater Austin, HomeAid Austin and MD Anderson Cancer Center. The proceeds, to be split equally among the charities, could range from $150,000 to $200,000.

An annual project of the Home Builders Association of Greater Austin (HBA), a Benefit Home is built mostly — if not entirely — from HBA members’ donations of construction management, materials, supplies, labor and monies. Johnson Land Ventures, developer of Nolina, donated the lot for the home.

“We are thrilled to support this important initiative for the HBA and have selected a beneficiary that hits close to home for the Nolina team,” said Michael Cox, President of Johnson Land Ventures.

Typically, the builder and developer partners each pick a charity that will split the net proceeds from the sale of the home. This year, both have selected MD Anderson Cancer Center in honor of those fighting cancer, including Nolina Marketing Director Kandis Rushing who underwent treatment at MD Anderson for a rare type of cancer.

“Cancer strikes far too many people, and even for those not directly with the disease, the impact is devastating,” said Adam Stockton, Austin Division President of Chesmar Homes. “The people at M.D. Anderson are miracle workers, and we want to support their efforts to help those facing this gut-wrenching disease.”

The Benefit Home will be Chesmar’s Maddy floor plan, a 2,609-square-foot two-story home with four bedrooms, three baths and an upstairs flex room. The base price for the home is $474,990. Stockton estimates the home will take approximately five months to build.

Founded in 1953, the HBA serves the homebuilding industry by working with government, public, business and community organizations in seven counties — Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Lee, Travis and Williamson. It began the Benefit Home project in 1991 and since then has raised more than $3 million for charity.

Nolina opened for home sales in early 2024. Chesmar Homes, Perry Homes, Taylor Morrison and Westin Homes offer homes in Nolina priced from the mid $300,000s. Planned for 1,341 homes, the 524-acre Nolina is located off Ronald Reagan Boulevard eight miles north of Highway 29 in Georgetown.
