![]() Nolina - Summer of Hope Campaign Gives Back to MD Anderson, Nation’s Top Cancer CenterJune 25, 2025
This summer, Nolina isn’t just building new homes — it’s building hope. That’s because the community is donating a portion of every home sold during June, July and August to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center through Nolina’s Summer of Hope program. Plus, proceeds from a home built by Chesmar Homes on a lot donated by Johnson Land Ventures will be split between MD Anderson, Home Builder’s Association of Greater Austin and HomeAid Austin as part of a Benefit Home Project. Through these initiatives, finding your new home in Nolina this summer is helping fund lifesaving research at MD Anderson for those facing a cancer diagnosis. MD Anderson has provided state-of-the-art patient care, cutting-edge research, cancer education and cancer prevention for over 80 years. Ranked No. 1 in the nation for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report, MD Anderson’s mission is to end cancer. The comprehensive cancer center, located in Houston’s Texas Medical Center area, has been named one of the top two hospitals in the nation for cancer care since U.S. News & World Report began its “Best Hospitals” rankings in 1990. The MD Anderson Cancer Center was established by the Texas Legislature and the University of Texas in 1941 as the Texas State Cancer Hospital and Division of Cancer Research. The cancer center is named for Monroe Dunaway Anderson, a frugal banker from Jackson, Tennessee, who later moved to Houston and became a prominent Houston cotton broker and philanthropist. The M.D. Anderson Foundation agreed to match the state’s $500,000 to build the cancer hospital if it was built in Houston and named for M.D. Anderson. Since 1944, more than 2 million people have sought cancer care at MD Anderson. Today, MD Anderson is a leader in cutting-edge cancer research. The cancer center claims it’s home to the world’s largest clinical trials program. MD Anderson invested approximately $1.3 billion in cancer research in fiscal year 2024 and enrolled 10,000 patients in 1,556 clinical trials in FY 2024. Clinical trial patients are given access to life-saving drugs before they are approved by the Food and Drug Administration. As part of its commitment to cancer prevention, the MD Anderson Lyda Hill Cancer Prevention Center in Houston exists to help detect cancer early when it’s most treatable by providing cancer screening exams and risk assessments. In addition to the Texas Medical Center hub, patients can receive cancer care at several locations around the Greater Houston area as well as through partner institutions in the MD Anderson Cancer Network. MD Anderson’s expertise and mission is shared with partner hospitals and institutions in San Antonio, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, New Jersey, Louisiana, Illinois and Madrid, Spain. Make a difference by choosing your new home in Nolina during this Summer of Hope. |
