The holiday season usually makes a lot of us want to help out in our neighborhoods. Around Georgetown, there are tons of ways to pitch in. You could hand out food at nearby pantries, spend time with older folks, guide kids, or even help with animals at the shelter. Whatever you do, your time and effort can really make someone's day better.

The Caring Place

The Caring Place is a community-oriented organization that provides for basic human needs, including operating a food pantry and thrift store and supporting people in need with financial assistance. Volunteer opportunities include assisting with enrollment, performing clerical tasks, shopping and stocking the food pantry, sorting donations, serving as a cashier, and merchandising at the thrift stores.

Holiday Meals Delivered

Holiday Meals Delivered provides a hot Christmas meal and special gifts for food insecure residents of Williamson County. Volunteers cook and deliver meals.

Georgetown Backpack Buddies

Food-insecure children in the Georgetown school system can receive meals for the weekend and summer months thanks to Georgetown Backpack Buddies. Volunteers put together and deliver packaged food each Friday.

Meals on Wheels

Coordinated by Opportunities for Williamson and Burnet Counties, the local Meals on Wheels program offers meals at select Williamson and Burnet Counties centers, as well as home-delivered meals to those whose mobility is limited. Individuals, groups, and businesses are invited to volunteer for meal deliveries. 

The Georgetown Project

The Georgetown Project is the oldest collaborative of private and public interests for youth development in the area. Volunteer opportunities are available through their Bridges to Growth program and at the NEST Empowerment Center and include childcare helper, toy cleaner, administration positions, meal providers, and activities directors.

Candyland Christmas Stroll

Spread holiday joy to families in Central Texas during this beloved Georgetown event. Volunteers help with decorations, parking, parade line-up, hospitality information booth, and vendor load-in and load-out.

Georgetown Parks and Rec Department

Help keep Georgetown parks beautiful by volunteering at special events such as Sunday with Santa and the Youth Fishing Derby. A youth volunteer program is available for kids ages 5 to 18. General park maintenance and trail cleaning opportunities are also available.

Brookwood Community

Brookwood Community is a Christian-centered, innovative vocational and residential community for adults with disabilities. Volunteer opportunities include decorating and maintaining facilities, doing yard work, cooking dinners, and spending time with or reading to community members.

Ride on Center for Kids

Ride on Center for Kids provides equine-assisted services to children, adults and veterans with physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges. Volunteer opportunities include horse handlers, side walkers, arena assistants, special event assistance, fundraising, ground and facility management, and more

A Gift of Time

People with memory loss and their caregivers can receive support through A Gift of Time. Programs include social gatherings where attendees can share memories and play games. Volunteers are needed to assist with social gatherings, performing, facilitating art and crafts, serving meals, providing respite companionship, and educating others about dementia.

Georgetown Public Library

Help families with the gift of reading. The library offers volunteer opportunities for adults and teenagers, including shelving reading materials, processing, and checking-in new material.

Helping Hands of Georgetown

Helping Hands of Georgetown serves the underserved and homeless population in the Georgetown area by providing food, clothing, shelter, and financial aid assistance to those in need. Volunteers are needed to make and pack lunches, organize the food pantry, sort clothes, and distribute donations.

Opportunities of Williamson and Burnet Counties

Opportunities of Williamson and Burnet Counties rovides community services such as Meals on Wheels, Head Start, and other services to both counties. Volunteers are needed to deliver meals and provide companionship to the elderly.

Boys & Girls Club of Georgetown

Youth have a safe space to learn, develop their character, and engage with other young people at Boys & Girls Club of Georgetown. Volunteers are needed to help with homework, tutor students and coordinate activities.

CASA of Williamson County

CASA of Williamson County provides trained, court-appointed volunteers who advocate for abused or neglected children in the foster care system. Volunteers are needed to advocate for children, prepare court reports, and coordinate with the child welfare team.

Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County

This non-profit builds homes for low-income families. Volunteers are needed to build and repair homes, serve on committees, perform administrative tasks, and volunteer at special events.

Georgetown Animal Shelter

The Georgetown Animal Shelter cares for lost or homeless animals and manages adoptions for them. Volunteers are needed to serve as adoption guides, clean kennels, feed and socialize with animals, walk dogs, provide foster care, perform groundskeeping, and handle office work.
