Harvest Green - Homebuilders Flock To Fort Bend Master-Planned Community Of Harvest Green

June 24, 2015

Eleven Houston homebuilders will add new homes in the Fort Bend master-planned community of Harvest Green where families will be the first in Houston to enjoy fresh produce from an on-site farm, community gardens and backyard gardens.

The response from our homebuilder partners has been phenomenal, notes Shay Shafie, general manager of Harvest Green, a 1,300-acre master-planned community by The Johnson Development Corp., the Houston-based land developer now in its 40th year. Each jumped at the opportunity to be a part of this one-of-a-kind experience.

Harvest Green's collection of luxury home builders includes D.R. Horton, Darling Homes, David Weekley Homes, Highland HomesLennar, Plantation Homes, Meritage Homes, Newmark Homes, Perry Homes, Trendmaker Homes, and Westin Homes.

Sales will begin this summer when home styles and pricing are announced while model homes are scheduled to open in the fall. Ultimately, Harvest Green will offer up to 2,000 new homes.

Harvest Green will be the first Houston master-planned community to give residents the opportunity to join an on-site farm co-op and receive fresh produce each week. Plus, an event barn will host chef-instructed culinary classes, farm-to-table dinners and various social gatherings. Each new home in Harvest Green also will come with an option of a ready-to-grow backyard vegetable garden.

Besides its appeal to fans of farm-fresh cuisine, Harvest Green's location at the Grand Parkway and West Airport Boulevard make it accessible to Houston's Energy Corridor, Sugar Land and the Fort Bend County.

"Its location and unique amenities should generate quite a bit of interest with young families and active empty nesters alike," adds Shafie.

Families in Harvest Green will attend schools in the Fort Bend Independent School District, including Travis High School and James Bowie Middle School located within the community. Another site in Harvest Green has been reserved for a new Fort Bend ISD elementary school.

Harvest Green represents The Johnson Development Corp's 13th master-planned community in the greater Houston area with Riverstone, Cross Creek Ranch, Sienna Plantation, Imperial Sugar Land and Willow Creek Farms among the company's other Fort Bend master-planned communities.
