Cross Creek Ranch - Cross Creek Ranch Schools Achieve Top Grades

July 19, 2016

Cross Creek Ranch schools came out on top in the annual rankings released by Children at Risk, with all schools earning an A and one rated among the top 10 middle schools in the state.

The non-profit advocacy group ranks Texas schools based on achievement on standardized test scores, performance indicators and — in the case of high schools — college preparedness. Elementary, middle schools and high schools are ranked separately, and schools also are given a letter grade from A+ to F.

This year, Seven Lakes Junior High School was named a top school by the organization, ranking No. 5 among Houston’s 303 listed middle schools and No. 9 out of 1,670 middle schools in the state. The high achieving school also was named a “School to Watch” by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform last February. It was one of only 153 schools in the state to earn all seven of the Texas Education Agency’s accountability ratings in 2015.

James E. Randolph Elementary, the master-planned community’s on-site school, earned an A+, and ranked in the top 10 percent of the 857 elementary schools analyzed. Both Randolph and Seven Lakes are schools within the Katy Independent School District. Cross Creek Ranch also is served by the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District.

This year, the Lamar CISD schools either maintained or improved their grades over the previous year. Foster High School made the biggest gain, moving from a B- to an A-. The school ranked No. 62 in Houston and No. 280 out of 1,159 high schools statewide.

Huggins Elementary upgraded from an A to an A+, moving from No. 130 to No. 101, placing it in the top 15 percent of Houston area schools. Both Wertheimer Middle School and Briscoe Junior High School received an A. Wertheimer was ranked No. 42 in Houston and No. 155 in the state, while Briscoe ranked No. 51 and No. 184, respectively.
