Voters Overwhelmingly Support Lamar CISD Bond Referendum

Veranda - Voters Overwhelmingly Support Lamar CISD Bond Referendum

November 09, 2017

Support for Lamar CISD’s 2017 bond package was overwhelming, with more than 60 percent of voters authorizing the district to raise money vital to meeting the needs of the sixth fastest-growing school district in Texas.

Once sold, revenue from the approved $445.4 million bond package will purchase land, build a new high school, a junior high and three elementary schools. The district also will make improvements to current facilities and purchase technology and buses.

Lamar CISD serves 43 percent of Fort Bend County and is projected to add more than 40,000 new single-family homes and over 10,000 multi-family homes over the next decade —with an additional 1,000-plus students projected each year. Eight new-home communities were introduced within district boundaries just last year, including Jordan Ranch and Veranda, both projects of Johnson Development. Two more Johnson communities — Cross Creek Ranch and Willow Creek Farms — also are zoned to Lamar CISD schools.
