Katy ISD Celebrates a ‘Century of Legacy’

Cross Creek Ranch - Katy ISD Celebrates a ‘Century of Legacy’

October 30, 2018

What goes into making Katy ISD one of the top-ranked districts in Texas? One hundred years of experience. This impressive milestone won’t be reached until 2019, but the district has already started celebrating.

From one-room schoolhouses to a flourishing school district of 74,000 students, Katy ISD has had a lot to celebrate over its 100-year history, including a 94 percent graduation rate.

The district now boasts 41 elementary schools including Randolph and Campbell elementary schools located within our community. There are 15 junior high schools and 10 high schools with the anticipation of more schools to be built in the near future.

Two of those schools also will be located within Cross Creek Ranch. Our new junior high will open in 2019 — exactly 100 years after the Texas legislature established and created Katy ISD on February 25, 1919.  The high school is scheduled to open the following year.

Throughout the school year, Katy ISD will celebrate a century of dedication and commitment to students, staff and community with campus celebrations and learning opportunities for students.

In addition, Katy ISD has created a website detailing the rich history of this fast-growing school district. Here you will find landmark accomplishments, the stories of affluential leaders and images that have survived the test of time.

We’d like to congratulate Katy ISD on this momentous occasion and look forward to being part of its next 100 years of educational excellence.
