10 Healthy Changes You Can Make (Without Leaving Harvest Green)

  1. Get moving

Ready to get moving? Need motivation? Michele Stamos, our Director of Fitness, can help. She offers a packed fitness calendar with great classes and fun events — like last month’s Glow Dance Party. Residents even get five free classes per month, as well as complimentary fitness assessments.

  1. Sign up for a 5K

Training for a 5K keeps you motivated. Doing it for charity gives you a double runner’s high. Make the move to Harvest Green now and you’ll have plenty of time to train for our annual OutRun Hunger 5k Family Walk/Run on Sept. 28, 2019.

  1. Bring the farm to the table

Getting your daily servings of veggies is easier when you have access to seasonal produce straight from the farm. Our residents get theirs when they join our CSA program and by shopping our weekly farmers market.

  1. Take up gardening

Gardening is a great two-fer. You get plenty of exercise and healthy food. Harvest Green residents can up their gardening game with optional backyard gardens or by renting growing plots through our Farm Club.

  1. Learn to cook

Studies show that ditching fast food for home cooked meals leads to a healthier you. Our Director of Fun is all over that, coordinating plant-based cooking classes, wine and food pairings, and more to motivate you to stay in for dinner.

  1. Play and have fun

Playing is good for our brain. It aids with problem solving, helps kids achieve better grades and can reduce cognitive decay in old age. The Farmhouse is our playground where families can swim in the resort-style pool, enjoy activities on the event lawn and socialize.

  1. Embrace art

Feeding your soul is as important as feeding your body. Going to an art museum can reduce anxiety and depression. At Harvest Green, the art comes to you through events and activities held in conjunction with the Contemporary Art Museum Fort Bend

  1. Reduce stress

There are a lot of ways to reduce stress, but our favorite is with a massage. That’s why we love Penny, our new massage therapist. She’s available to residents every Wednesday and 2ndSaturday of the month by appointment. 

  1. Spend time in nature

Exposure to greenspace reduces the risk of type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, premature death, stress and high blood pressure, among other things.
