Johnson Development Communities Earn 5 Spots Among Nation’s Best Selling

July 10, 2019

It’s another repeat for Johnson Development, which once again saw more of its communities on a list of the nation’s top selling than any other developer.

According to the mid-year tally released July 9 by housing research firm Robert Charles Lesser & Co. (RCLCO), Johnson Development has five communities among the nation’s 50 best-selling developments.

“Our lifestyle-focused approach continues to resonate with homebuyers,” said Larry Johnson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson Development, a company he founded in 1975. “Add in the varied palette of quality builders and home designs, and you have a package that appeals to today’s evolving homebuying market.”

The RCLCO report states that many of the top-selling communities listed have strategies to fill multiple market niches, offering a mix of homes in varied prices and styles. Lifestyle amenities are another shared characteristic among the communities.

Of the five Johnson Development communities on the RCLCO mid-year report, Harmony in Spring had the most sales, placing No. 17 with 289 home sales — a 24 percent increase. Sienna took No. 18, with just a few sales shy of Harmony — 281 for the first six months of 2019. Cross Creek Ranch was not far behind, earning a No. 21 spot with 262 sales, a 7 percent gain.

Woodforest in Montgomery County saw 206 sales reported, tieing the community for No. 40. Harvest Green in Richmond also is listed, placing No. 50 with 187 home sales. It was a 9 percent increase over last year.

Only true master-planned communities that reflect a comprehensive master plan incorporating a variety of housing types, sizes, prices, shared common space and amenities are included on the list, according to RCLCO. Johnson Development has had more communities ranked among the 50 best-selling than any other developer since 2014.
