Meet the Sullivan Elementary PTA

Riverstone - Meet the Sullivan Elementary PTA

February 23, 2021

A strong Parent Teacher Association (PTA) makes for a stronger school where children can flourish. The Sullivan Elementary PTA is dedicated to developing a close relationship between parents, teachers and children so that everyone benefits.

The primary purpose of the PTA is to provide support for the teachers and staff of Sullivan Elementary so they can concentrate on providing a world-class education for students.

Parents do this primarily through the annual Dalmatian Nation Drive. The fundraiser replaces candy and other sales drives found at other schools. Sullivan families donate money directly to the PTA rather than have children sell products door-to-door. The donations are tax-deductible with 100 percent of the donations benefiting the PTA. Donations also are eligible for corporate matching funds. This year, the PTA hopes to raise $50,000.

With fewer volunteers needed to handle fundraising, parents can spend more time providing classroom and extracurricular support.

In the past, money raised from the drive has financed numerous teacher appreciation events, teacher conference funds, field days, family events and grade level enrichment.

There are many opportunities to volunteer with a special opportunity available to fathers. The goal of the Dad’s Club is to get fathers more involved in their children’s school lives. Past events dads have organized include Saturday morning Playground Players where Sullivan students have the opportunity to play and interact with students from different grade levels, a Thanksgiving Feast for teachers and a Polar Express Evening where dads are encouraged to read winter-themed books to students.

We salute the parents who take the time out of their busy days to support the teachers and staff of Sullivan Elementary. By investing in the PTA, you are investing in your children’s future!
