Junior High #16 is Now Joe M. Adams Junior High
January 28, 2019
Our new Katy ISD junior high is getting a name change. No longer will we be calling our on-site school Junior High No. 16. Instead, we will be calling it Joe M. Adams Junior High.
Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees recently approved naming the campus after Joe M. Adams, who served on the board for 27 years.
During those years, Adams experienced the district’s exponential growth and was instrumental in ensuring that Katy ISD’s reputation for educational excellence continued. He brought a wealth of knowledge to his position, and along with his genuine passion for public schools, made decisions based on what was in the best interest of the district’s students and employees. His contributions impacted thousands of students and their families.
Adams Junior High will open its doors in August under the leadership of Principal Elisabeth Brodt. It is located near our Campbell Elementary, our newest on-site elementary school. In 2020, the junior high will be joined by the as-yet-unnamed ninth Katy ISD high school.
We are excited that our new school will bear the name of a man whose dedication to Katy ISD reflected his character, vision and values, and hope that they will inspire our students.
