All-Abilities Park Coming Near Cross Creek Ranch

Cross Creek Ranch - All-Abilities Park Coming Near Cross Creek Ranch

December 27, 2019

The first all-abilities park is coming to Fort Bend County right next to Cross Creek Ranch.

Cross Creek Ranch and developer Johnson Development have donated funds to the park, which will be located near the intersection of FM 1463 and Katy-Fulshear Road.

The brainchild of Precinct 3 Commissioner Andy Meyers, the park will provide a safe, fun place for children of all abilities to play and develop new skills.

Initial money for park infrastructure and site preparation will come in part from the Fort Bend County assistance district, and through Meyers’ charity, Fort Bend Charities. Meyers will help merge funds and plans.

The timeline for this project is to be determined, but the hope is to open the new park next year. The office is still working on the overall land plan for the site and plans to put together an advisory committee.

The public has already offered many suggestions including installing wheelchair-accessible swings,  restroom facilities that accommodate special needs and providing sensory items and elements that encourage social engagement for those with autism and have elements that encourage social engagement. As for what the park will be called? We’ll let you know — Cross Creek Ranch General Manager Rob Bamford won the naming rights by outbidding others at a recent Fort Bend Charities gala.
