TIPLER Group Electrifies Homebuilding with Battery-Powered Home

January 24, 2020

TIPLER Group is introducing something powerful to Woodforest — a battery-powered home.

Tipler is partnering with PanTech Design to deploy Adapt Energy technology that will use an on-site battery about the size of a refrigerator to manage and automate a home’s energy usage. The 4,000-square-foot concept home is being built in Woodforest’s Pine Island neighborhood.

The battery draws power from the energy grid to power the home, but it only does so during off-peak times, which saves the homeowner money. Other advantages include creating power profiles based on the home’s energy usage, sending out severe weather alerts and preparing for power outages so the battery can operate off the grid. If a major storm hits, these homes will still have power.

The battery is typically installed in the garage and can be included when first building the home or added after the home is built. The system’s $40,000 installation cost can be recouped within three to four years.

The Pine Island concept home also will include solar technology. It should be ready in April.

The Houston Business Journal recently reported on the battery-powered home. Read the full report here.

TIPLER offers Hamptons-inspired home designs priced from $1 million to $2+ million in the second phase of Pine Island’s Estate District. Full customization also is available. The builder is the exclusive design-and-build partner in this second phase, which is located along the west nine course of the Woodforest Golf Club and has a fully manned gate entrance. Homesites in the section are approximately one-third of an acre.
