A Summer of Science Begins at Jordan Ranch

May 10, 2019

Budding scientists, engineers and animal doctors can immerse themselves in a summer of science at a series of camps we’re hosting in Jordan Ranch.

The public is invited to sign their kids up for some amazing camps led by Nutty Scientist and Ekids Hub at The Shed Gathering Spot, 30757 Jordan Crossing Boulevard, in June and July. Each camp runs for one week and offering engaging, age-appropriate activities for children ages 3-12.

Nutty Scientist will offer its particular brand of hands-on science at two camps designed for kids ages 6-12. Both camps run from 1-4 p.m. and cost $179 per child. Vet Camp, June 10-14, will introduce kids to chemistry, zoology and biology through the world of veterinary medicine. Ooey Gooey Science, July 15-19, will bring the yuck with booger basics, slime making, foamy fungus and more.

Ekids Hub, a STEM enrichment program, will introduce kids to engineering, computers, physics and robotics basics at nine different camps.

Budding engineers can build simple machines at two camps taking place 1-4 p.m. June 17-21. Mechanical & Electrical Electronics for ages 5-7 allows kids to build motorized vehicles. Robotics & LEGO Makers Workshop, for ages 8-12, teaches robotics using LEGO bricks and VEX metal parts. Both camps are $125 per camp.

Chemistry, animation and electronics are the subjects of three camps being held 9 a.m.-noon, June 24-28. Kids ages 3-4 will focus on creative thinking skills with a side of candy science at Jr. Engineers and Scientists. Cost is $100. Mechanimation allows kids ages 5-7 to create their own video games and animated cartoons for $125. Engineers will lead an Electronics Makers Workshop for kids ages 8-12. Cost is $150.

During the same week from 1-4 p.m. kids will be able to create bots and engineer drones at two camps. Bot Buddies is for ages 5-7 and costs $125. Drone, Design Program & 3D Printing teaches kids 8-12 physics and geometry through drone programming. Cost is $150.

In July, Jordan Ranch will host two more Ekids Hub camps from 1-4 p.m. Inventions Studio focuses on how things move for kids ages 5-7. Adventures in Game Design and Coding is for kids ages 8-12. Children will design their own computer games while learning coding skills. Cost is $125 per camp.

Baking is also science, and budding bakers can learn the basics from Cook Learn Grow.  Baking 101 is for children ages 7-9 and runs 9 a.m. to noon, July 22-26. The cost is $275. The camp can accommodate nut allergies.
