Texana Trot Races Through Jordan Ranch Nov. 16
October 15, 2019
Fun on the run returns to Jordan Ranch Saturday, Nov. 16, with the goal of raising funds for Texana’s new Fulshear facility for autistic children and adults.
Registration for the Texana Trot 5K Fun Run is ongoing. The race starts at 8 a.m. at The Shed, 30757 Jordan Crossing Boulevard, and will wind through our community to a birthday party at the finish line celebrating Texana’s 20th year. Partygoers can enjoy a bounce house, obstacle course, face painter, food trucks and tunes spun by a DJ. All proceeds benefit Texana’s Forward Together in Fulshear capital campaign.
Participants can choose simply to register and run or become fundraisers. Texana Center will provide all the tools, including a personalized fundraising website. Those unable to take part can sign up to become virtual fundraisers. A $25 Sleep-in Option allows the more sedentary to partake in the event from the comfort of their own beds.
The new center broke ground last year as a response to tremendous growth in West Houston. After analyzing their wait list in 2015, Texana found that the demand for services is greatest in the Fulshear/Katy Area. Texana also found that there is a
growing population of young adults with autism who do not fit well into the current service models. The individuals and their families are searching for full integration into the surrounding community including access to competitive employment in industries of their choice.
The planned facility will be built in three phases and upon completion will house a retail training center, the organization’s nationally recognized autism program and a new college-like program for adults with autism and/or intellectual disabilities.
This is the second year Jordan Ranch has been the site of the Texana Trot and we are thrilled to assist the non-profit in their quest to provide the best possible help for children and adults with autism.
The race is on! We will see you there!
