![]() Woodforest - Tips for Perfect Dog PhotosJune 15, 2021
If you’re like most pet parents, you probably use your phone to take pictures of your dog. Probably a lot of pictures (be honest). While phones are great for catching your playful pup sleeping on his back or playing with the cat, you might be wishing they could be a little more professional. If so, you’re in luck, we have some tips for you. Bribes Work Dogs are very food-motivated so don’t be afraid to bribe your way to a good picture. Have someone hold up his favorite toy and move it in the direction you want his head to go. Practice commands like “sit” and “stay” followed by a treat. Gradually lengthen the time before you reward your dog, so she gets used to staying still. Get a Dog’s Eye View Get down your your dog’s level. The angles will be better, you will be able to catch the perfect expression and your dog is more likely to stay still. Just stay out of the way of doggie kisses. Lighting is Everything Having the right lighting is important for any photo. Animals don’t like flashes so take pictures near a window or outdoors. Pick a Good Location To make the picture fun, you want a good backdrop. Parks and ponds make for good outdoor pictures. Inside, your dog’s favorite nap spot will make him feel comfortable (just make sure the lighting is good). Simple backgrounds are best. Whatever you use, make sure the backdrop flatters your dog’s coat. Be Creative Don’t surround your pup with toys. She might be more interested in playing with them than having her picture taken. Instead, surround your dog with plants, baskets or even kids for a fun picture. If your dog hates costumes, put away the doggie-t-shirts and ballet outfits. Your dog will smile more if she isn’t embarrassed. Come to Woodforest Of course, to get an even better photo consider bringing Fido to Woodforest during our Dog Days of Summer picture-taking session 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at Christine Allen Nature Park, 5831 Woodforest Parkway South. Cost for a professionally taken photo is a can or bag of dog food that will be donated to a local charity. Dogs having their photos taken must be up-to-date on their vaccinations. |
